If you are human you need things…all sorts of things. You go to stores and order things by telephone and by mail all the time. Think of all the things that you buy out in the real brick and mortar world.

That list will include everything from soup to hay. Every single thing that you can purchase out in stores and shops in the real world or that you can order by telephone and by mail are available on the Internet without exception.

Not only are all of the things that you buy available on the Internet, there are things on the Internet that you canít buy anywhere else.

Although everything that you can buy in the real world is available on the Internet, everything on the Internet isnít available in the real world.

You should learn about how things are marketed on the Internet if you have any thoughts about selling things on the Internet yourself, of course, but even if you donít plan to sell things yourself, understanding how things are marketed on the Internet will help you be a better informed consumer.

Sometimes the things that you want and need are available in the real world but much easier to get on the Internet.

Information is one of those things. You could spend hours in the library gathering information from dusty books that you could lay your hands on in only minutes on the Internet.

That information will be more up-to-date than anything you could possibly dig out at your local library. The Internet isnít called the Information Super Highway for nothing.

It can take months for books to be printed, cataloged and put onto library shelves but it takes only minutes for new information to be available on every subject you can imagine (and maybe some subjects that you would never want to imagine) on the Internet.

Customer loyalty has always been vital to the success of a business. If you’re in business and don’t offer enough, provide high quality products or services, or maintain pricing, your customers may be tempted to go elsewhere.

In traditional brick and mortar businesses this has always been a concern. However, on the web it’s far easier for a dissatisfied customer to just click a couple of times and find another business to spend their money with.

When it comes to maintaining your customer’s loyalty on the web the key to doing so is offering more of what your customers want and backing it with stellar customer service.

While this may seem like a daunting task to undertake, and it does require hard work, it’s not as difficult as you may think. So how do you offer your customers what they want and how they want it?

The most essential factor in giving your customers just what they want is first, knowing what they want. This requires research on your part.

If you’ve not yet started your business take the time to check out the successful competition in your niche of choice and see what they offer.

If you’re already in business you need your customers’ feedback. Include a feedback form on your website to give your customers the opportunity to provide suggestions to you.

Not only will this make them feel important and appreciated, but it will give you valuable insight, too.

Maintaining your customers’ loyalty is not difficult once you get to know them.

Remember, while it will undoubtedly take more time and effort to keep your customers happy and loyal, the amount of time you spend on knowing their wants and needs and meeting them is far less than the time it would take to try to rebuild your business if you lost your best customers to the competition.

New Internet marketers are no doubt ambitious and driven by the idea of being successful and making money from their Internet venture.

While ambition is a good thing, the true key to success with Internet marketing is knowledge. It’s imperative that you know what works, what doesn’t and how to put it all together to make your venture work.

Here is a short list of some of the most commonly made mistakes by new marketers.

Not having your own domain name – No one will believe you’re a legitimate marketer making legitimate money if you’re using a free site.

As with brick and mortar businesses, image is everything. If you’re striving for success your image will suffer using a free site.

Using free e-mail addresses such as Yahoo, gmail, or Hotmail – As with the free websites, using free e-mail services don’t lend professionalism to your image.

If you have a legitimate web host that you pay for your domain you can create your own e-mail address on that domain.

Unprofessional look on your website – If your website looks like the strip in Las Vegas with flashing banner ads and cheesy graphics people will assume you’re an amateur.

Your site needs to have quality look and quality content. You’ll also want to take care in the layout of your site making sure that it’s easy to navigate and makes sense.

Poorly written content – Before you jump to conclusions, don’t assume that I’m going to tell you to hire someone to do your content writing for you.

Unless you truly cannot write (many people think they can’t but haven’t really taken the time to try) then you can write. Whether you do your own writing or have someone else do the writing for you, be sure that it’s quality content.

You want to offer your visitors information they want that’s easy to read and grammatically correct.

As you can see, many of the mistakes made by new marketers are simple, avoidable mistakes. You can’t assume that you’re going to get something for nothing when it comes to Internet marketing.

Success as a marketer doesn’t have to cost you a fortune, but it will take some investment on your part, in time and money.

When it comes to business being an innovator can make a huge difference in how successful your business is.

Whether your business is a traditional brick and mortar business or an Internet business being innovative can increase your profit potential in a major way. How is this so?

Let me explain.

While there are certain business rules that should be followed, and certain trends that are worth following, most of the "rules" are more general guidelines than they are rules set in stone. So how do you know when it’s okay to be innovative and when you should stick to the more traditional rules of business or what is really a rule and what’s not? Let’s take a look at some of the rules of business and some of the guidelines.

Rules:

· Customer satisfaction is essential to success – This is absolutely true no matter what type of business you have. Unsatisfied customers will spread the word about your business as fast, if not faster than satisfied customers will. Before you know it your business will be suffering immensely.

· Free websites and e-mail addresses are not professional – Not only do customers find free websites and e-mail addresses to be questionable, but so do other business professionals. To be taken seriously as a business person you need to have a paid domain with a corresponding e-mail address.

· Knowledge of your products or services is essential to success – To be successful in business you must know the products or services you’re selling. This is not to say you must be an expert, though it wouldn’t hurt, but you must have solid knowledge of what you’re selling. This correlates to customer satisfaction.

Guidelines

· Don’t mix niches – While this can be good advice, there’s more than one way I can see that mixing niches can be not only innovative but successful. I’m not going to give my personal input here, but I can tell you that mixing niches has the potential to be very successful if done right.

· Don’t use busy patterns on your website – Now this has, at times, irritated me on some websites. However, if used sparingly and tactfully it can be a very effective means of drawing attention to a particular space on your website that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.

Without going on and on I’m sure you get the idea. While I wouldn’t suggest going off on a tangent and employing a brand new, never tried marketing method as your only means of marketing, I’d say you should give something new and unheard of a try every now and again.

You may just be pleasantly surprised!

In the world of Internet Marketing and Internet Business there is a vast array of possible ways to make money. Like with a traditional brick and mortar business, some ways to make money are more profitable than others.

Resell Rights are at the top of many people’s lists of profitable, easy-to-sell products. For those of you not familiar with what Resell Rights are, allow me to take a moment to go over the basics.

Resell Rights, also known as Resale Rights, are special rights that may be granted to a person by means of a legal transaction between the seller (person who currently owns the rights to sell a particular product) and the buyer (person who is obtaining the rights to sell the product).

By way of this transaction the legal right to sell the product is transferred from one person to another, giving the buyer legal Resell Rights to the product.

There are several different types of Resell Rights a person may obtain for a product. Each different type of Resell Rights allows the owner a different degree of ability to make a profit from the product.

Let’s take a moment to look at some of the different types of Resell Rights available.

· Basic Resell Rights – allows you to resell a particular product to your customers, however, your customers do not have any rights whatsoever to resell the product to anyone else. This type of Resell Rights allows you to keep 100% of the profit made from each sale.

· Private Label Rights – probably the most attractive, versatile type of Resell Rights available.

This type of rights allows you to alter the product in any manner you choose such as renaming the product, putting your own name on the product, rewriting part, or all, of the product, reselling the product and/or its Resell Rights to others, and so on.

· Royalty Rights – requires you to pay the franchisor or author of the product a percentage of each sale of the product you make, most common with physical products such as books sold in bookstores.

· Master Resell Rights – gives you the rights to resell a product along with its Basic Resell Rights. Master Resell Rights also allow for your customers to in turn resell the product to their own customers.

This type of Resell Rights also allows for the Master Resell Rights to be sold in combination with the product itself.

Successful marketing of products and services on the Internet can be done in a variety of ways just like it can be done in a variety of ways out in the real brick and mortar world.

Four of the many methods used in Internet marketing are:

1.Search Engine Marketing: This is done by paying search engines (like Google) for each time your advertisement is clicked on by a web surfer. This is called Pay-per-click (PPC) marketing sometimes.

You are allowed to write your own advertisement for the search engine to use when providing results of searches made using your relevant key words.

2.Affiliate Marketing: An affiliate marketing program is set up by the owner or producer of a product or service whereby other marketers are paid to sell that product or service for a percentage of the sale or a flat fee for each sale.

This is one of the more popular forms of Internet marketing. Many times savvy marketers can set up website businesses without owning or producing any product of service of their own and those who do own products are services are happy to have others selling for them.

3.E-mail Marketing: This is a form of Internet marketing that has fallen on hard times of late with the being enacted prohibiting spamming.

Opt-in lists are now required to avoid being penalized for sending out spam e-mails. It is still, however, a very effective method of Internet marketing because the opt-in lists are people who are most interested in the product or service being offered.

4.Article Marketing: Owners of products or service operations write articles using key words and attention getting titles.

They then list them in article directories, repositories or article banks to be downloaded and reproduced by other website owners and ezine publishers free of charge as long as the articles remain unaltered and the resource box is included in the reproduction.

Having an Internet business can be all that you ever dreamed it would be. You can be successful, feel liberated, and enjoy a stress-free commute simply by walking from the kitchen to your office with your cup of coffee in hand and still wearing your pajamas.

On the other hand, it can be very stressful if you’re having a difficult time managing your business from home.

One of the biggest pitfalls many people face when trying to manage their business from home is distractions. It’s far too easy to take that personal phone call and chat away the hour or invite your friend in when they pop over and spend the afternoon catching up.

The idea that you have no boss looking over your shoulder or checking your time card can make the temptation to slack off too great to resist for some people. Here are a couple tips on how to successfully manage your home-based business.

First you must be firm with friends and family. You need to make them understand that even though your business is at home, you’re still working.

Explaining to them that your business is no different than any brick-and-mortar business with the exception of the fact that it’s at your home should get the point across.

However, if you have young children this may be a bit more difficult for them to understand.

Next, set a work schedule for yourself. This will help you keep from overworking yourself and also allow for you to spend time with family and friends, too.

You can also provide your schedule to family and friends to help them avoid distracting you while you’re working.

Last, let’s cover communication with business associates and customers. You’ll want to be able to keep in contact with them, but there have to be guidelines in place for them, too.

On your website you can clearly post methods of contact. If telephone is one of them you’ll want to set reasonable hours. If need be, get a second phone line and have the calls forwarded to your voice mail after your regular working hours.

This will prevent you from having to listen to the phone ring all evening long and help you avoid the temptation of taking that extra call that will cut into your personal time.

One of the basic facts of marketing, whether it is for a brick and mortar business or an Internet-based business, is this: in order to be successful you must give the customer (or potential customer) what they want.

If you have a brick and mortar business you must ensure that you have a knowledgeable staff that can interact with them effectively; answer their questions, provide accurate information and be prompt and courteous.

If you have a web-based business you need to provide much of the same customer service functions, but virtually. In order to do this your website must be interactive.

To create an interactive website you must provide functions on your site that allow your customer to feel like they’re getting what they want, when they want.

If they want product information they need to be able to click and receive, right then, right there. They may also feel more at home if there’s a means by which they can communicate with your or other customers.

To do this you can create a message board or blog on your site that will allow them to virtually connect with other people with their same interests.

These types of things make a customer feel like their needs are being met and leaves them feeling more satisfied. And a satisfied customer not only spends more money but will send potential customers your way.

Another important tool for your website is a feedback form. This form allows customers to give you feedback directly from your site, rather than having to send it from their e-mail.

By placing the feedback form on your site you make the customer feel like their comments, concerns or complaints are important to you, and this makes them feel good about you as a business person.

Be sure to place this form in an easy-to-find location on your website.

While adding these tools to your website may seem complicated, or even pricey, they are well worth it in the long run.

Most web-hosting companies offer these tools and many more in their hosting packages.

For a few additional dollars each month you can improve your customer satisfaction rating and traffic flow greatly.

The most noticeable change in the trends of Internet business lately has been the big move of the brick and mortar businesses to the web.

This is not to say that traditional businesses are closing their doors and reopening on the web, but rather they are expanding to the web. So what is the cause of this expansion?

With the Internet’s ability to serve a global market many business owners are looking at the web as a way to expand their market. With people today leading such fast-paced lives the tendency for more and more people to do their shopping online has grown.

Despite the concerns of identity theft and computer viruses, online sales have continued to increase at a rapid rate. It’s easy to see why many traditional business owners are making a move to the web.

Another reason many business owners are expanding to the web is the relative ease with which they can make the expansion.

While expanding a traditional business can require major construction or having to move locations, expanding onto the Internet is as easy as having a website built and hosted.

This type of expansion also can be done without hiring additional staff members. All the work can be done by the owner or an existing employee.

This trend is undoubtedly going to continue as more and more business owners see how easily the move can be made and how profitable it can be.

With many of the big names having made the move already and done so with great success I can see no reason why a great majority of the traditional brick and mortar businesses will not soon follow suit.

The newest group of business owners that are emerging on the Internet business scene seem to be the mom-and-pop type businesses.

Affiliate programs, also known as referral programs, pay-per-click programs or pay-per-sale programs (and more) are generally very easy to sign up for and some even offer a nearly instant cash flow.

They are designed as a way to "direct" the traffic coming to your website to generate revenue, without the complexity and expense of selling any of your own products.

Instead, you earn a commission or flat fee for each sale or click generated from the link on your site.

Affiliate programs are typically offered by sites selling goods or services.

There is nearly no limit to the kinds of products or services that can be sold on a site that offers an affiliate program.

There are, however, some affiliate programs are based on other types of transactions such as sign ups for freebies such as newsletters or digital products. The array of offerings made by affiliate programs is ever-growing.
.
Many affiliate programs pay on a commission basis, though as I mentioned earlier some pay a flat fee. The range in pay, whether it be commission-based or fee-based, can vary greatly from program to program.

Some flat fees are as little as $0.05 or as much as $10.00 or more, while some commissions can be as little as ½% to high as 50%. Much of this depends on the products being offered.

As is typical in any kind of business, whether it’s a brick and mortar or web-based business, the more you learn the more you earn.

If you’re considering going into an affiliate program you may be wise to start out with a more basic, lowering-paying program to learn the ropes.

Once you’ve been in a program and you’re comfortable and confident with it, you may be able to move on to the other, higher-paying programs.
