If you’re looking to go into business on the Internet you may be concerned that your website will get lost in the shuffle. Perhaps that is the main reason why you haven’t jumped in and started your Internet business yet.

Your reason for concern is a valid one. With all the competition on the web you want to have some sort of assurance that your website will get traffic. I may have just the solution for you.

Depending on the nature of the business you’re looking to start you may have a great option in working with one of the big web names such as EBay or Amazon.

Not only will you get instant recognition by being "partnered" with either of these companies, but there’s a steady, heavy flow of traffic to both sites.

While this doesn’t guarantee success and you still have to work hard to get your business up and running and seeing a profit, it does give you a boost.

So what can you sell if you’re "partnered" with one of these sites? Well, just about anything. I know people who have created EBay stores and they’re selling things like gift baskets, automobile parts, candles, computers, you name it.

With EBay you have the option of creating an EBay store or simply putting your items up for auction and using your own website for your store, whichever you prefer.

I know another person who sells used books who uses EBay, Amazon and half.com to list his inventory. Great exposure and credibility from being "partnered" with these sites have provided him with a very comfortable living.

While I’m not saying that these sites are the only options for sites to "partner" your business up with they do make a fine example.

You’ll want to check out each site carefully to find out all the details on how you can build a business with them.

Be sure to take careful notes for each site you’re considering and then compare them with one another to find the best fit for you and your business.

In the world of Internet Marketing and Internet Business there is a vast array of possible ways to make money. Like with a traditional brick and mortar business, some ways to make money are more profitable than others.

Resell Rights are at the top of many people’s lists of profitable, easy-to-sell products. For those of you not familiar with what Resell Rights are, allow me to take a moment to go over the basics.

Resell Rights, also known as Resale Rights, are special rights that may be granted to a person by means of a legal transaction between the seller (person who currently owns the rights to sell a particular product) and the buyer (person who is obtaining the rights to sell the product).

By way of this transaction the legal right to sell the product is transferred from one person to another, giving the buyer legal Resell Rights to the product.

There are several different types of Resell Rights a person may obtain for a product. Each different type of Resell Rights allows the owner a different degree of ability to make a profit from the product.

Let’s take a moment to look at some of the different types of Resell Rights available.

· Basic Resell Rights – allows you to resell a particular product to your customers, however, your customers do not have any rights whatsoever to resell the product to anyone else. This type of Resell Rights allows you to keep 100% of the profit made from each sale.

· Private Label Rights – probably the most attractive, versatile type of Resell Rights available.

This type of rights allows you to alter the product in any manner you choose such as renaming the product, putting your own name on the product, rewriting part, or all, of the product, reselling the product and/or its Resell Rights to others, and so on.

· Royalty Rights – requires you to pay the franchisor or author of the product a percentage of each sale of the product you make, most common with physical products such as books sold in bookstores.

· Master Resell Rights – gives you the rights to resell a product along with its Basic Resell Rights. Master Resell Rights also allow for your customers to in turn resell the product to their own customers.

This type of Resell Rights also allows for the Master Resell Rights to be sold in combination with the product itself.

Affiliate programs, also known as referral programs, pay-per-click programs or pay-per-sale programs (and more) are generally very easy to sign up for and some even offer a nearly instant cash flow.

They are designed as a way to "direct" the traffic coming to your website to generate revenue, without the complexity and expense of selling any of your own products.

Instead, you earn a commission or flat fee for each sale or click generated from the link on your site.

Affiliate programs are typically offered by sites selling goods or services.

There is nearly no limit to the kinds of products or services that can be sold on a site that offers an affiliate program.

There are, however, some affiliate programs are based on other types of transactions such as sign ups for freebies such as newsletters or digital products. The array of offerings made by affiliate programs is ever-growing.
.
Many affiliate programs pay on a commission basis, though as I mentioned earlier some pay a flat fee. The range in pay, whether it be commission-based or fee-based, can vary greatly from program to program.

Some flat fees are as little as $0.05 or as much as $10.00 or more, while some commissions can be as little as ½% to high as 50%. Much of this depends on the products being offered.

As is typical in any kind of business, whether it’s a brick and mortar or web-based business, the more you learn the more you earn.

If you’re considering going into an affiliate program you may be wise to start out with a more basic, lowering-paying program to learn the ropes.

Once you’ve been in a program and you’re comfortable and confident with it, you may be able to move on to the other, higher-paying programs.

If you’re like many of us you’ve visited the sites of niche marketers a time or two, at least. Did you notice that some sites had a wide array of products while other sites had a more limited selection?

The reason for this is more than likely a combination of personal preference on the part of the marketer and good business sense, too. Allow me to take a moment to explain some of the reasons that were probably behind their decisions.

The first thing you need to consider is what products are out there and available to you that relate to your niche. Depending on your niche there could be a vast array of products available, or a very limited selection.

Once you’ve found sources for products that relate to your niche you’ll be ready to move on to the next step, choosing what to sell.

When it comes to selecting products to sell within your niche there are a couple of factors you need to take into consideration. Some factors to consider are listed below.

ï Cost of the products ñ Given your market you’ll want to consider how much money your customers are willing to spend on products.

If you’re unsure of this you may want to give products in a variety of prices ranges a trial run to see what sells, what doesn’t and make changes accordingly.

· Reputation of manufacturers or producers – When selecting your products be careful to choose manufacturers or producers carefully. Just because you can get a good deal on something doesn’t necessarily make it the wisest investment. If you sell shoddy products you won’t be in business long. A good rule to follow when selecting your products is: don’t try to sell anything that you yourself wouldn’t buy.

· How much can you handle, how much do you need? – Once you’ve decided on what types of products you want to sell you need to consider how many products you want to sell. While it may be tempting to try to sell everything but the kitchen sink, can you really keep up with it, and do you really want to?

On the other hand, you don’t want to have such a limited inventory that you’re not making the profit you want or offering enough to keep your customers interested.

This information ought to give you enough insight to make a wise decision on what to sell on your site.

The more often a key word or phrase is used the higher the value of the word or phrase. "Children’s Books", for example is considered of more value than "Youth Books" because it is used more frequently.

Using keywords and phrases effectively on a website might be considered a mix of art and science. The HTML of a website should use key words in the title tag and each page of the website should contain sentences using the key words or phrases.

The highest ranking key words should be used in the home page title and as many times as possible but the title needs to make sense.

Meta tags are important as well. Put all of the relevant key words into your Meta tags. Meta tags should never be longer than twenty-five words long.

They should contain key words and phrases repeated two or three times. Don’t forget that they still need to make sense.

Single key words are usually very competitive so key phrases are often more effective than single words. Over use of key words and phrases can actually hurt you.

Always use either a comma or a space to separate key words and phrases…one OR the other, though….not both. It is important to include common misspellings of key words, as well.

This is important! It is well known that search engines consider the first 250 words on a website to be the most important.

They consider relevancy and density of key words and phrases. Anything more than a five to seven percent density, however, is considered spamming by search engines.

According to denow.com the definition of Internet marketing is: "The use of the Internet to advertise and sell merchandise or services. This involves use of Web sites and e-mail to inform customers about a product, solicit their questions, and accept their orders directly through the electronic medium."

According to the dictionary, "Internet" is defined as: "an electronic communications network that connects computer networks and organizational computer facilities around the world" and "Marketing" is defined as "selling".

So, if the two definitions are combined, you get "Selling using an electronic communications network that connects computer networks and organizational computer facilities around the world." That about sums it up.

The term "Internet Marketing" covers an array of different methods of selling products and services that are delivered electronically or by freight.

The list of things that can be sold on the Internet is basically the same list as things that can be sold in the brick and mortar world.

Selling things in the real world means that the customer contacts the seller by going into his place of business or by phone.

Real world merchandize is always delivered physically. In the world of Internet Marketing products can be physically delivered, of course, but many things that are sold on the Internet can be delivered electronically, as well.

Some things sold through Internet marketing can be delivered either physically or electronically. For example: Information is available in the form of e-books and sound and video files that can be downloaded directly from the site that is selling them but they can also usually be ordered in a hard copy form and physically delivered to the buyer.

The term, "Internet Marketing" covers a wide variety of products and services and the possibilities seem to be endless.
